but the next one will have Anton Yelchin in too, so it's bound to be good
    as well

Where do you suggest they run to when they're surrounded?

The bloke waving the cape around or the people with the sharp objects?

Well it's certainly stupid, but not funny. Then again, of the shows
talked about in this thread, I've probably seen about 70%, and I don't
think I'd choose to watch a single one of them.
Why would "off the wall" be a requirement for "stupid comedy"?

I remember an episode of "Tales of the unexpected" where a guy had invented
a machine that could hear plants talk. He could also hear the roses scream when
    they were pruned.

You started with the absurdum, I just added a dash of reductio.

    Yupp.

"Reductio ad absurdum (Latin: "reduction to the absurd") is a form of
argument in which a proposition is disproven by following its
implications logically to an absurd consequence.[1]"

    Dragnet
    Jackass
    Police Squad
    South Park
    Whoops Apocalypse
    Traffic
    Up Pompeii

A couple of those are rather subjective (and require a healthy dose of
postmodern irony) but they still bear examination.
