Oh, please. Obviously this is a difficult time for me, what with flogging
my favouritest bike and so forth, but you'll have to come up with
    substantially better bait than that.

I suspect the auction will have ended by then.

  6. heh, yes, and I wouldn't buy the drifter anyway. not that there's
anything wrong with it, but, well, it's more you than me. besides I
already have a VS, just need to make it work.

With any luck, no-one will bid on it, and I can keep it and sell something
    else (like the green thing).

Well, there's four bikes in the drive:

The Z200, which wouldn't be worth selling.
The Drifter, which is my favourite bike, but Sarah can't get on with.
    The BMW, which is eversoslightlyfucked.
    The Trophy.

I've got to reduce the fleet somehow, and I need something that's
comfortable for two-up touring. The BMW fulfilled that rôle until it
lunched its engine. The Trophy was bought to replace it, and I'm ostensibly
    going to part it out.

However, I'm really in two minds about the Trophy. It's a good bike, does
all the stuff, reasonably comfortable etc, but it's just not me. If space
and money allowed, it would be nice to have something in the shed that could
    do long-distance three-figure cruising and pillion-hauling etc, but it's
    just not interesting enough.

I guess what I really need is another RT. I could put a new engine into
this one, but apart from the bits I've replaced, it's a shitheap. One
option would be to find a nice mono 80 or 100, swap over the best bits, and
then out the Trophy. This is something I'm severely tempted to do.

    Sorry Platy, Hom statement retracted.
on second inspection it actually looks quite nice that
    you KNOW you want it.
what sort of money do you see it being worth?

If it sells. I'm really not sure this is a good idea, and I'm half-hoping
    it doesn't meet reserve.
A moment of inspiration. Pleasingly accurate, too.

Reserve's two grand. Which I think is fair. Whether people will want to
    pay that is another matter.

Yup. So I won't know whether to celebrate or drown my sorrows. I guess I'd
better plan to have a beer or twelve...
