Err, yeah. First, two years ago it was knocked over by a french twat
in a paris car park, then last year I dropped it in a French village
near here when Blaney was over to ride the 400/4 back.

Total damages add up to a few scratches and the odd bent bit, but no
duct tape repairs needed, so not in the Bonwick or Champ league.

All posted about in much detail at the times, but I don't expect your
memory to e up to that, obviously.
Err, that most people have low-speed spills at some point?

Yeah, as you said on Monday. But nothing to be lost having a look.

whoever's got it now)? Lozzo's (or was that Hog's? I get confused) ?
    Must be others.

It was a close-run thing. For the first thirty seconds self-combustion
    looked almost inevitable.
By hand, I imagine. He'd already fucked himself iver at the weekend.

  6. Why do I think "racing" and "spare parts for sale" = "stolen"?

There are some who'd be claiming the exact opposite to the dealer, and
getting them to fork out for the accident repairs.

Yup. And because *a lot* of nicked gear winds up on racetracks. And
anyone who says otherwise is either a thief themselves or a naive
    innocent.

    That reminds me.

I remember being in my local dealer when a bloke came to collect his
RGV250 which had just failed its MoT because it didn't have a frame
number. The shop asked where he'd bought it.

He said he'd seen it advertised on a noticeboard at Brands.

    Wry grins all round.

"Do you think it's nicked, then?" asked this genius.

Several heads (mine included) nodded in unison.

No rush, I mean, it's not as if I ride the bike much, is it.

  14. I had a Kawasaki frame that had no number. It was new, and was supposed to
have the number from the bent frame stamped on it when it was in for
repair. The same thing happens for crank cases. Funny to see a Kawasaki
with no engine number but the surface not filed down. but a lot of stolen
stuff does end up on the track. It always has.

Cheers and you also ride a reliable K3 so are far less likely to need
    them )

  17. That is *not* the same thing at all, and you know it. I'm talking nicked
bikes being broken and the bits winding up on the track. Or being used
in their entirety on the track. Because they and the bits are bought by
skint people who are desperate to keep racing. Nice people, who'd go out
of their way to help you (as you say) but who, when offered a load of
cheap bits, don't always ask questions.

Of course. Oddly, I once had a CD175 that had never had one (a batch
slipped through in the early 1970s) and I'm pretty sure that for a long
time Harleys had no frame numbers.

Yes, there are loads of scrupulous racers out there. And loads of people
using hookey gear. Don't try to defend the indefensible. just because
    you're not one of them.

Because you don't understand the basic idea of taking a *new* bike out
of the crate, hanging the road plastics on the wall and fitting race
    plastics.

  19. Right, so no stuff whizzing around circuits is ever nicked. Get real.

  20. Well, yes, that was OTT, and I apologise. But the core point remains -
racetracks are where a helluva lot of stolen gear ends up. Fact. Always
    has been.
