Any less suited to long distances than a 7R?

I'm planning to do BOSM on the RGV, if that puts things in perspective!

Oh I would like to try that if the bars aren't stupidly low!

Perhaps very little, as long as you make one up that means you have to
pay a realistic amount of VAT on a 'new' vehicle? Otherwise it would
presumably depend on how diligently things are checked before the UK
registration is issued. A vehicle that had already been registered in
another EC country then sold as used under the above rules would also
    need a local registration document.

You certainly don't walk out of the LVLA with a tax disc IME of
registering a bike brought in from the EC. Perhaps someone does some
rudimentary checks before issuing the registration number?

Then, being less than ten years old but not registered before 2003 there
is the type approval bollocks to consider.

A lot of people are suggesting various sport style bikes, but if you want
distances a nice comfortable cruiser is probably a better move.

I really loved the whole look of my old Daytona, everything just seemed
right about it, including the SSSA. Far better looking than the floppy
    blancmange styled T595 style
Oh yes, one of the nicest looking bikes ever built.

Whereas I am not so keen on the later angular "origami" style of the
    955i.
    Yes indeed.

Sure. Half the reason i'm bringing it is for CIHAGM reasons, though
obviously the usual conditions apply, with added piston-holing clause.

Should be alright then, I had no trouble doing longish runs on the 7R.

Proof of the pudding notwithstanding, of course.

And has the go and the handling too, by all accounts.

I'd love to get a go on one.

Five grand though, so stretching the budget a bit. I doubt it'd be 50%
    better than a GSXR750.

One of my best memories was of watching Steve Toombs at Donington
backing his 675 into Redgate lap after lap on a trackday last year. I'm
talking proper sideways with smoke pouring off the rear slick. It was
so scary to watch that the marshals there called in and asked the
organisers to tell him to pull his neck in a bit because every lap they
were all tensed up ready to run to his aid. His response was "I don't
know how else to ride it"

You want a powerful, large-capacity roadburner in the proper colour.

Black. Also, faster, fewer heavy, and less toyed than the blingmobile.

The only thing the 929 is good for is slinging down the track and
    trading in for something else.

I had and SRAD 750. I think it's been my favourite bike ever.
