More to the point. lose or break your expensive electronics and you
    potentially lose your *entire* library...

Plus you're fucked if the batteries are flat and you want to read :)

I doubt it: there are too many issues about making decent pseudo paper
and the licencing arrangements for books (c.f. music).

But in the film, the guitarist is called Tommy Johnson.

  4. And they don't always suck. My little Nokia 770 is great for reading
e-books (as was the clie before it). The only downsides are a) the time
I spend reformatting the broken .lit files to get decent html out of
them and b) the battery life.
Indeed. And hopefully it won't be heavily encumbered with DRM.

and while we're at it, where's the flying car I was assured would be
here by now, back in the 70s?

  7. That's my whole point - fucking technology that's going to get out of
date as soon as it's current.

  11. At the Marillion gig last Friday the support band (The Reasoning) was
touting their CD during their set. I would have bought one (it was a
stonking set they did) but I already had it..

Marillion were pretty damn good too. And in another league to The
Reasoning - you could tell the difference between a (good) semi-pro
band and a (very good) fully-pro band.

  12. Fair point, I usually think that at some point during Paul Jones' show
on R2, although I don't catch it often enough for it to be an issue.
That said, I think live music is a totally different animal - I've
enjoyed lots of stuff live that I wouldn't consider listening to at
    home (Cajun as an example).

I found a copy of Clapton's "Sessions for Robert J" CD/DVD in the public
    library.
It is rather good. I must look for a copy of the earlier "Me and Mr.
    Johnson"
    to compare.
