For many dictators, isn't being hanged or shot natural causes anyway?

Not for His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi
Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the
Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in
Particular, who took early retirement at the age of 55, and lived quietly in
Jeddah for the next 24 years.

  6. I wonder if he achieved his life goals? Bit of a bugger to be a
multi-millionaire exiled dictator without having done that one thing
he'd really set his heart on.

Not just you, Tunku. I think Saddam and possibly a few thousand more
    people lost out today.

It was enough of a trial in the circumstances is, I think, the point.

ITYF that Stalin had already killed many thousands of people that (he
thought) weren't loyal to him. Google for his man Beria.

I recently read "Khrushchev remembers", his apparently unauthorised
autobiography, first published in 1970, the year before he died.
(this one, on ebay, http://tinyurl.com/sc97c but the p+p is
    outrageous)
Very interesting reading, of course he was in the thick of it all
    along, and
    survived. Quite a guy.
