Two martinis to start, some starter or other; I *think* it was a
carpacio of beef, could be wrong.
Very nice rib eye steak with lots of veg,
    creme brulee.
A bottle of half decent wine; probably French, can't remember.
    An amaretto and an espresso.

The bill came to 92 quid (according to my credit card statement, I can't
remember if it included a tip.

  2. *Nice*. I'd have eaten all of that. Rib eye is my all time favourite cut of
steak. AS long as it is merely scared.

Oh, trust me it was. "blue"; and I mean as cooked by the French.
Somewhere there's a picture of me eating a steak the way I prefer it...

We had Kobe beef and some particularly fine wine in a very shishi hotel
in Paris last year. The bill would have dented the US national debt.
Good Paris hotels are excruciatingly expensive though.
£92 is bloody hefty for one person in USA mainstream, but a meal for
four in the best restaurant in Santa Rosa was over $1000.

  5. I'm drooling now. I've a rather fine rib roast of beef for tomorrow. I shall
briefly introduce it to a high heat.

  7. I had Kobe beef for my September birthday at The Cliff in Barbados.

    *Very* nice it was.

Possibly the nicest beef I've ever had.

Syrah if memory serves me right www.syrahbistro.com. The vintage
champers and booze were half the bill.
I'm embarrased to recall is was pounds not dollars, eeek

    A better venue I think!
It was spectacularly good, served on a slate plate. I just didn't think
it was *that* good. In fact I don't think any piece of food could
justify that price <thinks> Ok maybe Cherie Blair and Gareth Pierce's
    heads, done on spits.

The Boutique hotel, Murano, get a recommendation too.

Except Firth of Forth is a stretch of water, rather than a football
    club.
