I think what's most noticeable is how much cheaper things are now than
they were 25 years ago when taken as a percentage of the average wage.

Some things are just cheaper, too.

I expected it with computers - but even stuff like kitchen gadgets (slow
cookers, toasters, kettles, etc.) are cheaper now than they were then.

I recently bought a slow cooker for a tenner from Argos. Cheapest one in
the 1985 list seems to be over £20

    He's also uploaded a 1976 catalogue and 1986 catalogue.

I know this - but you'd still have to take each and every page out of
said catalogue in order to scan it.

Unless he has access to the 'holy grail' - a proper, laminated ex-store
    copy.

It's amazing what putting millions of people in asia into factories
    can achieve.

I had to do something similar for work recently with my own scanner. I took the
catalogue, sliced down the spine and inserted the pages into the scanner. Okay
it wasn't 200 odd pages (around 70) but I had the job done in less than half
    an hour.
