It's been reported that one of the persons pulled in for questioning in
connection with the Tonbridge Securitas heist, yesterday attempted to open a
building society account in nearby Bromley, with £6k in cash... that was
wrapped up in bundles bound with tape with the word 'Tonbridge' printed on
    it.

  2. You got a reliable source for that? I just heard JW say it on R2 but I
wondered if he was just taking the piss.

when I flogged my R1150GS, the bloke I sold it to turned up with >8K in
20 pound notes. I got him to hold onto the cash until we got to my
bank, and then deposited it - the teller called the manager over and
they asked me a lot of questions. They also called me at home the next
    day to "make enquiries".

They also let Special Branch know about deposits over a certain size (I
can't recall what this is, but it's a lot lower than 8K).

Was part of a news bulletin on GMTV this morning - some reporter at the
scene... was reported as a fact direct from plod though, so I presumed it's
    spot on.
    Heh.

  6. If it really was part of the haul, that will give a red face to the
dibble spokesperson who described the heist gang as - "Top echelon of
    the criminal fraternity..." OWTTE

Even I, as a law-abiding pleb would never consider trying to open an
account with bundles of notes. What's the betting that he just sold a
bike to the same person as Darsy?

Mind you, that's not to say the bloke who bought the bike...

As it should be. In the socialist EU nirvana of the future ordinary
citizens will have no need for money. The state will provide you with
    everything you need.

I am pretty certain it is *not* Special Branch, And *any*
transactions of any size *must* be reported if the the cashier
    *thinks* they are suspicious.

Further, if the law thinks the cashier *should* have thought a
transaction was suspicious and didn't then they are guilty of a
thought crime and can be busted.

I saw a pretty horrific ppt yesterday (God only knows why I was sent
it), whereby a young kid (not more than 4/5) had his arm crushed under
    a car for stealing bread.

The gist of the ppt was calling Islam barbaric...

I once knew someone who could clap with one hand by slapping their
wrist with the same hand (double jointed or whatever).

    It wasn't pleasant to watch.

  19. And in that van they found in some foreign place (South of the Thames)
they found dustbin bags of money, flack-jackets, balaclavas and guns.

But they were being very cautious not to link them with the heist...

  20. SWMBO thinks that if we are going the ID card route then a better
option is for everybody to be chipped at the back of the neck at
birth. Much more difficult to lose, copy, pirate etc etc

Anybody not agreeing with the above should also be anti-ID cards...
