    Cadbury down.

Still, at least it wasn't Hershey.

    Horrible stuff.

The only thing on there that I've had in the last year or more is Green
& Blacks, and even then, there are already plenty of far better dark
    chocolate bars available.

I've just had two Crunchies in tribute.

Dark chocolate, with the exception of Bourneville, is for ponces.

  6. I knew that they had a 5% stake at one point but I didn't know that
Cadbury had bought the enitre company.

The Maya Gold is a great bar of chocolate though.

For me, it's not whether the brand is 'premium', but the %age of cocoa.

So dark chocolate from Aldi is nicer than CDM, IMO of course.

I think the problem is they're completely different things, only linked
by name. It's a bit like saying doughnuts & sponge cakes are the same
    thing.

I like Dairy Milk & I like 70%+ dark chocolate, but there's no way they
should both be called chocolate. And if they weren't, these debates
    wouldn't happen.

I think it's perfectly clear. One of them is named 'milk chocolate',
the other is 'dark chocolate'. What's so hard to understand about
    that?

    Especially the Chilli variety.
Some of the dark chocolate from the local Lidl was also quite nice
    until it all melted yesterday.

Who said there was anything hard to understand about it? Brits don't
call them that anyway, they call them chocolate & dark chocolate. I
don't think I've ever heard anyone say "I fancy some milk chocolate".

That influences the taste, sure, but there's more to it than that (imho).

We tend to buy the plain Divine. Bloody scrummy. Just recently, it seems
to have had some stock problems - so we've been working around the
alternatives - all around the 70% mark. And we've been very relieved that
Divine's back on the shelves again - it's just far more to our taste than
any of the others. Waitrose's own-brand is closest, but I've been very
unimpressed by most of the other "name brands". Divine's one of the
    cheapest, too...

That's because "dark chocolate" is for cunts and ponces. Normal people
    eat milk chocolate.

Incidentally, G&B milk chocolate is fucking horrible but I bet cunts
    love it.

    Different tasks.

Dive into a newsagent for a bar of CDM (fruit & nut, please) when you get
the munchies wandering down the road.

A couple of chunks of good dark chocolate with a glass of wine at the end
    of your dinner.

  18. I don't tend to eat much chocolate, but for me, it's the percentage of
cocoa, the taste and the texture that counts. Unsurprisingly, I don't
    agree with you or Champ.

Dairy milk is (or at least, the last time I had any) horribly cloying
and has a texture that ends up sticky in the mouth. The American
version, made under license by Hersheys is even worse.

  19. They might be fit for dunking, but people of discerning biscuit taste
take dark chocolate hobnobs over digestives.

    Are these new(ish)?
There're milk, dark and plain. How long's that been going on?
    Has someone redefined Plain?
What's happening, I don't like it, make it stop.
