OK I have been boring the folks in Reeky with the ongoing tale of my
long distance purchase of a new (to me) Road King and I figured why
    spare you guys the pain.

One thing I will say is, considering the time of year, this bike is
putting on a heck of a lot of miles.

Washington State to Delta BC and finally this afternoon Calgary
    Harley.
    http://www.actualriders.ca/roadking.htm

And what a pleasure it is to deal with Calgary Harley. Their service,
at least for today, is heads and shoulders above any I have received
from an auto or bike dealer in the past few decades, maybe ever.

The truck arrived with the bike in the back and the HD service manager
had the fork lift lined up behind it almost before the truck driver
had the back door open. Then he had three guys remove all the wrapping
and go over the bike with a fine tooth comb looking for damage.

Once we got all the paperwork sorted out he told me they would have it
ready in a couple of days and if I don't have it registered by then or
if the weather is crappy, they will deliver it to my place, free of
    charge.

    WOW!

Friendly, polite, prompt service. I thought that was a lost art.
Something Yamaha dealers could sure take a lesson in. My Yamaha
service guy thinks he is doing me a huge favour by even talking to me.
In fact they refused to do this safety inspection.

It would be a terrific Christmas present if the Customs paperwork is
processed in time to let me register the bike next week. The roads are
relatively clear and the temps are hovering just below the freezing
mark. I can ride in that.

What a nice looking motorcycle! Congratulations on the acquisition!

Hey, if you ever happen to find yourself in the vicinity of the
nation's capitol (The U.S. capitol, that is) give a hollar, and I'll
treat you to a fine crab feast! (It's kind of a tradition of mine
with tx.moto posters who visit the Washington, D.C. area!)

Thanks Tim. I am pretty pleased with it.
Of course being just an unwelcome visitor over here. Do I still get
    the feast?

Sweet looking ride! I was working for a Harley dealership in Virginia
when the '04 models came out. Harley made some interesting changes in
the electrical system that year. And congrats on finding a good shop
that knows how to treat their customers. I was fortunate that the 3
shops I worked for had some good service writers and would take the
time to actually talk with the customers. We had people from North
Carolina that would bring their bikes up to us due to poor service
    from their local dealers.

Anyhow, I hope you have a short winter. Last year the Air Force
transferred us back to Alaska and a couple of weeks ago I picked up an
'83 Magna for my birthday. Unfortunately winter is in full swing up
here right now ( it's been snowing all morning) and it's going to
drive me crazy till it's riding season again. :)

Have fun with the new bike.
