I'm waiting for the first test case.

Who's going to cover the costs of flying-in the witnesses, assuming of
course that they are prepared to travel?

While I don't condone exporting criminal actions, there is a great danger in
assuming that we can impose our moral values on activities in other
countries - but then of course, hasn't this been the justifification for
    most wars?

It's more a case of Johnny Foreigner bending over backwards to
    accommodate you.

Unfortunately not. He's done his thing where it's illegal and he's in jail
because of it. I (again, unfortunately) can't see our lot banging him up
again when (if) he comes back here.

I liked Gary Glitter's music. OK, I was 12 years old at the time, but
my tastes haven't matured that much.

Actually, I went to see his Christmas Show sometime in the 90s, and it
was great fun. One of my mates [1] went in 'costume', making
platforms by nailing his Doc Martins to blocks of wood, and a cape by
spraying his dressing gown with silver paint

    [1] 'mad Alex' [2]
[2] so called because...well, you can probably work it out.

    <Gary Glitter?
    You have no idea.

Get Black Mike going on Mad Alex stories sometime. Meanwhile I can
    offer the following:

Mad Alex used to have something like a 20 mile commute, across the
wilds of the Forest of Dean (yes, he was a Forrester, which, for those
that know the region, will help explain things). He did this year
round, in all weathers, on a variety of bikes, but eventually settled
on a CD175 ('The Seed') as the ideal commuter. But still, in winter
it got cold, and he couldn't afford decent kit (to be fair, in those
days there wasn't really any decent kit), so he just used to add
layers, eventually topping off his ensemble with his trusty dressing
gown over the top of his leather jacket.

Inevitably, he crashed. (He did this quite a lot, actually). Imagine
the A&E staff's surprise when admitting a motorcyclist already wearing
    his dressing gown.

On another occasion, on coming to rest in a Little Old Lady's front
garden, said LOL came running out, but instead of offering the
traditional Hot Sweet Tea (tm), she started beating about him with a
rolled up newspaper, shouting "you're the third biker to crash into my
front garden this month. You've ruined by flower beds again".

Alex's best mate was Shane (frankly, should have been called Mad
Shane). After both trying their hand at racing solos, they discovered
they couldn't really afford it, so hit on the idea of going sidecar
racing together, and splitting the costs. They could often be seen on
the outfit, heading thru the paddock to the collecting area,
    squabbling loudly:
A: It's my turn to ride, you rode last time
S: that was practice, there's no point me riding for practice and then
    you the race.
A: well when do I get to ride then
    etc

    Happy days...

An amusing anecdote but to say there wasn't any decent kit is not
    strictly accurate.
My quilted waxed cotton Belstaff suit was quite adequate for a 40-mile
    commute
in sub-zero temperatures in the cold winter of '81-2.

Waxed cotton is probably the reason that bikers stick together.
