    This site says,

: As the name of the newsgroup implies, this is a newsgroup
: that concerns itself with discussions about classic motorbikes
    : in the UK.

This sentence is ambiguous. I hope someone can set me straight
on its true meaning to prevent further incidents with outraged
Medieval personnel: to what does the phrase "in the UK" refer?

    Here are some possibilities:

    (a) "this is a newsgroup... in the UK."
    ie, it's located in Blighty.

    (b) "this is a newsgroup that concerns itself... in the UK."
ie, it's only for concerned blokes in Blighty.

    (c) "concerns itself with discussions... in the UK."
ie, the dialog takes place only in Blighty.

    (d) "discussions about classic motorbikes in the UK."
ie. The bikes have to be located in Blighty to be relevant.

I am a benighted Canuck who has never tred (trodden?) upon
the soil of Olde England. (Or the Republic of Ireland, either,
not to speak of the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands)
and vintage British bikes are rare around here. However,
I have nearly enough bits and pieces to put together
a "modern classic" UK bike of which I dare not speak
    in present company.

    BTW - my 2nd bike (after a Honda S90) was a '69 BSA Thunderbolt.
I keep seeing restored machines of this make and year at bike
shows, and I always wonder if one of them was mine (I've long ago
lost all record of the serial number).

It is, it's part of the UK hierarchy.
Not really, I'm posting from the US.
Mine aren't any more, but they still wear their UK plates, mostly
because I haven't got around to registering them...
