  4. Same as the guys running straight cut timing gears to sound like a
    supercharger. Another wank.

OK, I'll bite. How do you *simulate* a sound?

Sometimes there's a justification for straight cut gears on mechanical,
    rather than ego, grounds.

Of course if you have a supercharger, you can drill small holes in the
pulley, between the teeth, to quieten the whine.

This is not to say it'll work on the missus...

  9. Christ! Any idea how much time I spent getting the wastegate spring
right to STOP my turbo making that noise?

    Ferking ricers.

    Cheers

The other bit of rice that is getting to me is the free-wheeling wheel
trims that look like an oversized chrome wheel, but don't spin at the
same rate as the wheels, and then keep spinning when the wheel stops.

I always glance at the front wheel of any car waiting to enter the road
I am on, as this gives the clearest early warning of movement.

One of these things gave me quite a start the other morning.

Yep, a little flag pops out with "PSssst! (104dB)" written on it.
