  2. I'm no kettle expert, but it looks nice. Shame about the paint chip in the
tank, mind. And I'd have replaced the V5 before putting it on sale.

Indeed... well the obvious things are non standard paint, seat, and the
Allspeeds (offside one is damaged). The rear mudguard doesn't look right
although it may be the seat that makes it look wrong. The horn is also non
stock, the bottom yolk bolts should be galvanised not painted... for that
price I would want all the galvanising perfect. Looking under the seat ****
knows what he has done with the wiring. Most worrying in terms of grief and
cost is the oil leak, often the sign of the crankseal problems that prevail
on kettles particularly long standing ones. Whats your view on the selling
it for a mate and the V5 is missing? I suppose he is only looking for a
    deposit while DVLA sort it.
Agreed it has some nice points but unless it comes with a bucketload of NOS
or good high quality spares including the original exhausts I wouldnt go
    above £2K.... perhaps £2.5.

Thus spake Pip Luscher () unto the assembled multitudes:
Having been unfortunate enough to have owned a standard V75 which turned
out to be an utter pile of crap, I nearly threw up when I saw that. I
blame the V75 for putting me off Guzzi's for good. I know that's
irrational, but I must have been irrational when I bought the damn thing in
    the first place.

Thus spake Pip Luscher () unto the assembled multitudes:
Memory now hazy as it was back in the early 1990s and there's also a desire
just to forget I ever had it. The electrics were shit, but in any case not
very long after I had bought it (privately) the engine would refuse to turn
    over fast enough to start.

I took it to a respected Ducati/Guzzi specialist near East Grinstead (Henry
something, sadly killed not too long afterwards in a road accident) who
said something about a probable misaligned crank and that the engine needed
a rebuild, which he did for me at considerable cost, but within weeks the
same problem returned. Not even the starter motor from a mate's Le Mans
and a car battery would turn it over properly.

I had grown to hate this bike so much by then that I sold it cheaply as a
non-runner to a chap who was going to have another go at curing the
problem. I wonder if he ever succeeded. Even now I do not know what
possessed me to buy it in the first place.
