    07:08 AEST Tue May 10 2005
    AAP
Police caught a learner motorcyclist allegedly travelling 230kph on a high
powered motorbike in Melbourne's west on Monday night.

Police said the 21-year-old was riding a 1000cc motorbike even though his
license only allows him to ride a 260cc bike.

The Deer Park man was intercepted travelling towards the city on the Western
    Ring Road at 10pm.

He is expected to be charged with riding at a dangerous speed and exceeding
the speed limit by 45km or more.

Police also detected another man allegedly driving at 169kph on the Princes
Freeway in Hoppers Crossing, also in Melbourne's west just before 7pm.

The 33-year-old Point Cook man was fined $440 and lost his licence for 12
    months.
