    Excellent.

Post the results on the Alps list in case Burnt is away on business
and doesn't get to see his. I'd hate for him to be working in Germany
and find he's having difficulty getting out of the country..

    Pretty much as expected.

You've been done for speeding and blind overtaking, and the case was
heard on Oct 27th. The fine was set at 240Eu and there's a 20Eu admin
charge. You paid 260Eu, therefore nothing left to pay.

You've also got three points, which will be registered on their
central traffic computer. (No idea if it gets transferred to your UK
licence - I know that in theory they could be, but I doubt if in
    practice they'd bother).

You have two weeks in which to contest this, but it must be done in
written German, and there's all sorts of warnings about what happens
if you don't pay in time, or try and contest it more than two weeks
later, plus bumf about proof of income if you want to pay it by
installments or somesuch. None of this is relevant to you, of course.

Cool, points make prizes in this game.
I wonder if they'd appreciate me asking for interest on the loan I
made to them between 3/9 and 27/10 when they decided I was going to be
    fined?

If you can do it in suitably accurate German, I'm sure they'd be
    suitably amused.

Oh, and I forgot to mention it earlier, but did you notice the
    signatory on both letters?

    ....a certain Mister Goehring.

Do I actually get to say "Are you deliberately trying to be a thick ****" or
    what?

Sorely tempted to do that, on the basis they mentioned nothing about it
going to court or any potential points/further fines. Does German law
let them find people guilty in court without even telling you the court
    case will happen?

You're not being invited to test the legality of their system, just
the facts of the case. You have a further two weeks to provide
evidence, and it's pointed out that if you don't give such evidence in
time, further proceedings will be to your disadvantage - not stated
how, exactly, but it says you may be disadvantaged even if you are
eventually acquitted (if you don't provide evidence within the two
    weeks).
I'm sure they explained it all - it's not their fault you can't
    understand German, is it?

    ;-)

What a service, eh? I bet the English police wouldn't have a German
    translation available.

I don't think I saw much more than 2x the limit on that occasion, but
saw well over 3x the limit in the 100km leading up to The Swiss Incident
    a couple of days before.

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

If I had the kit, I might be tempted, but I don't, so I'm not. Next
year's turning into a nightmare for getting leave booked too, not least
with the TT sort-of-clashing with the World Cup.

Le Mans is on though, as is Chimay (probably).

    Nice try, btw.

V informs me by SMS there was one waiting for me when she got home. I'll
have to wait til tomorrow to scan it in and add it to my holiday
    scrapbook.

Incidentally, I've just insured the thou for 350 quid. I think that's
the least I've ever paid to insure a proper motorcycle (ie. >125cc).
    Ever. With my reputation!

I wasn't given anything to read. I remember you or Steve were sat there
reading through something, but 'my' cop just said "this is what you've
been done for, this is what it's cost you, now let's go & confiscate
your bike" or words to that effect.

Maybe he didn't think you were able to read, and was surprised when your
signature was anything more complex than an 'X'.
