    The Royal Mail that is.

Bought a Topsax F-6 mouthpiece for my alto sax from the US for US$38.99
    via fleabay [1]

I thought I might get a tickle from the revenue which I did for £3.59,
which is bang on the money.

But £8.00 'international handling fee' from those useless tossers at
the Royal Mail is beyond the pale.

[1] Sounds great - clean bright tone right through the range

Yes I've been caught out by that as well - and there's absolutely bugger
all you can do about it AFAIK.

Not really, someone has to do some work, they pay the money to customs for
you I assume [1] ? So a loan, and then they have to bill you etc.

Or do they mug you for the money before customs release it

[1] As in I may be wrong in how this works.

  5. That's about the gist of it. It does sting when you get caught on a low
value item, but, the amount of processing is the same regardless of the
cost (once the threshold has been breached).
Could you imaging Royal Mail trying to organise something like that?

What if someone sends you a 'gift'?
