Thinking about an 2004 R1

I'm thinking about selling my Suzuki GSX750F for an R1. But not sure how
the 2004 R1 would handle as an every day comuter bike. I ride about 20 - 30
min each day and just wondering if this bike is comfortable enough (for a
race bike) to this sort of purpose.

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Yep its a quandry alright. Tell you what. Buy one, send it up and I'll
commute on it for a few months and I'll let you know.

Like the others have said test ride one, I'm sure you'll love itas its an
awesome bike. Couple of things tobe aware of is the new R1 has a tall first
gear which can be a pain in the ass around town. My ZX-10R has it too but a
simple change of the front sprocket fixes that (17T to 16T on the 10R, costs
about $50) and I believe the new R1 owners are doing similar. The other
thing to be aware of is they can run a little hot under the seat in traffic.

get a 2003 model, more suited to the road, if you are after a commuter bike,
maybe get a zx9r

Well it's not an ideal commuter bike but of course you can ride it for a
half hour in traffic - christ if you live in Sydney you're going to have
to do that much at least to get it to a windy road on the weekend any way.

Bum up head down might not be ideal for stop start traffic but it's not
that big a deal.
