This weekend and cheese

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Paul Carmichael, Oct 13, 2010.

  1. For those going to France, I finally did get some manchego - 1.5kg. This was
after I'd already spent 28 euros on some other stuff. Cheese are us.

Despite having just bstarted on a trying to avoid dairy regime I'll be
interested to try that. All being well I shall arrive at the do with a
couple of lumps of Limousin local stuff. Nothing remarkable, but quite
    edible.

Excellent. I might see if I can get a bit of local wild boar saucisson
for the BBQ and/or some Limousin beef steaks.

I might see if I can eat at least 4 different types of burger when
we're camping on an airfield in Somerset at the weekend.

The things we do to watch bike racing.

I intend to drink at least four differed types of beer.
There's bike racing? Well, that makes the camping-and-drinking weekend
    even more worthwhile.

Don't forget the port, it's important that we drink a bottle of port
    between us each night.
I'm not sure how much of it we'll actually watch because if it rains
I'm heading straight for the nearest pub.

Yup, dirt bikes on the beach over specially bulldozed dunes. Mass starts
in the hundreds and much predictable hilarity.
BBC weather says it wont rain so bring wellies and prepare to get
    ratarsed.

I'm rather worried about getting there as I just arrived home to
discover there's no fuel in any of the local filling stations.

Is that really true though? I know there are rumours and resulting
queues at the pumps, but anything we can find seems to show that
there's plenty of the stuff to go round.

Is this because of the general strike they've decided to call over the
    retirement age?

I can see there being uproar over here once government cuts start to
bite but I don't think we'll see a call for a general strike because
too many people don't care until something directly affects their
    lifestyle.

I think it's part of the same thing, yes, although not actually a
    'general strike' as such.
More to the point, the UK has effectively lost the right to strike
anyway, AIUI. And certainly lost the will.

I think the will is still there but only in a minority of workers so a
call for anything even resembling a general strike would be doomed to
    failure.
