The view is great, I can see Mars from here. I believe we had moved on to
    roadside stakes and signs.
As you've brought it up, I'm still awaiting your tables of steering head
torque vs rear tyre pressure you're, fairly successfully but deviously,
    avoiding.

  2. Oh, Theo. I explained, that they are in amongst the W'gong stuff. I went
through a whole stack of physics undergrad stuff and converted them to pdfs
yesterday. I'll let you know when I find it. BTW I claimed it was torque
not PSI that made the bike handle the poorerer (you do know that means it
was subjective, or is this a penance profile you are after)?. Are you still
interested? There is also the point that I can't see how these bikes will
be applicable to you or your stable.

    Cheers

PS Road safety/road furniture/roadside object/et al. I'll go out with the
digi cam and get some snaps as I travel around, can you do the same? Also
have a read of the "Inquiry into crashes involving roadside objects", by the
Road Safety Committee Parliament of Victoria, March 2005.

On the Trout Rally run, I saw a heap of "TREES CLOSE TO ROAD"
signs. No mention of Dryads or Z1300s or other mythical beasts.

There are two causeways near where I live. One has 3 x 1" rows of steel
hawser and 6" x 4" posts, and the other has modern wire-rope barrier.

The old design is just low enough to cars cars to flip as they hit it,
meaning that they're upside-down as they hit the water.

The modern design has the uprights sitting in plastic inserts which in turn
sit in substantial concrete footings. I spoke to the engineer when they were
being installed. "They're safer for bikies because the posts just bend and
pull out of the sockets." There were some uprights which hadn't yet had the
wire through them, but he was unable to pull a single one out to
demonstrate - even before five rows of steel are threaded through to anchor
    them in their sockets.

Every time that they've been hit by a car (no bikes yet), the poles have
been torn out, but in many cases the concrete has come out with the poles.
I seriously doubt that a bikie could survive even a low-speed slide into
    these contraptions.

Cool, I'll be waiting right here.
We're talking mono-cycles now, are we? No doubt you will tell me how that
relates to your original comment on motorcycles. I think you're full of shit
Hammo, but I like your ability to squirm. You should go into politics. Start
    practising that Costello smirk.
Not interested. It is apparent WA is years ahead of your neck of the woods
    in this area.

  6. Jeez, Theo. Been out in the sun too long?

Perhaps you'd better re-read what I said way back when. I do believe you
are getting wound up over your misinterpretation. However, just go and try
it for yourself and then you can publish your results here. Won't that be
    fun!
It could be, like I said, I'd take the digicam out and have a look. I was
asking you send some pics of your "safety poles", but am I to presume that
you'd rather remain smug in the belief "your neck of the woods" is superior?

I am more worried about being taken out by another rider than hitting a
    barrier.

Do the maths..... bike riders killed on Old pacific highway this year vs
bike riders killed hitting a wire rope barrier that wouldn't have died
hitting any other type of barrier.

It would make more sense to close the old pacific highway :)

There was plenty of 'ornage among the teenage male population in the lead
    up to Schoolies last week!

2 vs 1 if i'm not mistaken, too small a sample to be statistically
