thought I'd mention it...

That's not entirely true. The bike only does what it's told to do and
big bikes are very easy to ride within your limits. It's smaller bikes
that are more likely to get someone in trouble because the rider
assumes it's underpowered and thrashes the tits off it.

I meant to say: "get to <the> end of their own ability" but missed out
the "the" - the bikes are really fantastic and I'm in awe of the power
that they produce, and the skill/experience that is required to ride
the bike within its power range in a controlled manner.

I wont consider anything that powerful for a good few years yet as I'm
certain I'd get myself into a silly situation before I even knew where
    I was.

    Fucking great fun though.

    Akkshirley, I dunno.

I guess so as I was 40 at the time, although as I said, I dunno..

I do remember the insurance for the CB500 being the same price whether I had
a full licence or not, which struck me as a bit odd as it wouldn't have
really been legal to ride it without a full licence, unless I was being
    instructed at the time.

Bad form 'n all, but didn't Monz go straight onto his TL having passed his
    test?

S'wot I thought, although I guess the premium would have been quite steep,
even with my advancing years. (The CB500 was £300FC)

Also, don't some companies only take you on on a Gixxer type machine if
you've previously owned / insured one (I am sure I heard this somewhere).

  6. Always someone willing to provide insurance but the premium isn't likely
    to be pretty.

IIRC Ogden had this issue with a bike when he cashed in some
bonds/insurances a few years ago (Unless I dreamed up this
    conversation)

I've had to change underwriters because my previous one wouldn't
insure the new bike even though I've got 6 years no claims on group 17
    bikes and a clean licence.

Oh, I dunno. When your foot's facing Southport and your knee's facing
Birkenhead, it's really comforting to know that there is someone there
shouting, 'ooh goody, a medical emergency. I love medical
emergencies', despite being useless as **** because at that point in
time, despite being a fully trained nurse, she is pissed off her skull.
