What do you do on a motorbike where it's ticket parking? Or is it legal to
park your bike wherever you like?

In Perth, you have to park legally, in a bike bay, but you're not required
to buy a ticket and you are subject to max times.

I figured that. Next time you're in Perth you'll know how to park. :)

You can park on the footpath as long as you don't block or endanger
    pedestrians.

In Sydney city, you can be fined for "failing to display ticket", so are
out of luck even if you buy a ticket.

Most other jurisdictions will remit the fine for illegal parking if you
write in and send the ticket you bought.

So Sydney still has no real solution to bike parking?

You buy a ticket and leave it on your bike and some punk steals it. You keep
it with you and the IPB won't overturn the fine if you send them the ticket?
Sounds like a lose lose situation to me.

Why would someone wearing a mohawk, tattered designer clothes and pins
coming out of orifices steal a ticket from a bike?

There's shitloads more dedicated bike parking spots now, and only some
of the city is pay and display. It's a lot more bike friendly than it
    used to be

Fair enough. But most of the bike parking around the city accomodates only
    5-10 bikes.

The only good place in the CBD to park is Broadway where there is enough
    space for 50 bikes.

What about Bondi Beach on a weekend?

The bike parking is always full. If you park in between two cars in a bay,
you may get a ticket as only one vehicle is supposed to occupy a bay.

Park on the footpath, as long as you abide by the rules.

Thanks for that. So i can park on the footpath.
But I'm still unsure. can I park in a ticket parking zone without a ticket?
