Oh well. I'm still functioning, but over three hours in the icy cold
wind and snow waiting for a recovery truck weren't ideal.

I was doing about 20 mph and was about to signal left in good time to
turn left at a junction when the rear of the bike decided it wasn't
going to do the whole upright thing anymore and after a couple of
seconds it wanted to have a little snooze.

Hover over image for (obvious) damage to be highlighted*:

If you'd like to look at my gash then here*:

*the iPhone 3G appears to have geotagged the images. If you're bored
hit 'map' in the text to the right and the location is there.

Summary of damage I've seen so far.

    1) Datatool System 3 goes into panic mode a couple of seconds after it
arms. Putting it in Ferry Mode doesn't stop the 'full alert'/panic
triggering. After speaking with TOG & wessie the bike is now in
Service mode which means it does a double blip every 15 seconds. I
got it recovered to work and I'll have a look at it tomorrow and ring
    the insurance company if required.

    2) Bike no longer starts. All the usual lights go on, bike deffo in
neutral, pull in clutch and hit starter and nada. Nothing dims, it's
as if a fuse has blown or the button isn't being pressed. When I
threw my ER-5 down the road a few years ago it failed to start and the
starter fuse had died. Ripping off the seats on the Tiger does not
reveal anything which looks like a fuse box. So might be the datatool
being funny or a blown fuse, wherever that might be hiding.

    3) Rear footpeg hanger which is welded to the frame has been bent into
the exhaust. Bike came to rest on this part of the frame and the
handlebar & tank so not surprised.

    4) Rear brake pedal bent

    5) Exhaust pipe protector cover under engine hanging off

    6) Left mirror AWOL, right mirror scraped and mirror arm bent

    7) Deep gash in RHS bar weight

    8) Front brake lever bent to a curl

    9) RHS hand protector gashed

    10) Handlebar *possibly* bent - either that or the headstock is
slightly fooked as the bar hits the tank when on full lock now.

    11) Probably related to point 10 - wires/cables/tubes around bars now
    appear under tension

    12) RHS indicator smashed

    13) Deep scratches in tank

    14) Various cables have found their way out of the front of the bike
    around the forks.

    15) Probably related to either point 4 or 8 - Bike no longer wants to
move. It's like one the brakes are seized or seizing. Took two
people to push it on to the back of the recovery van. wessie has
suggested that this may be due to the front brake disk getting bent on
impact - It's a possibility but the bike does move, but one needs to
    be rather firm.

Check the seat micro-switch - that would cause those symptoms if it's
been dislodged so thinks the seat's removed.

I've had the seat off before and the alarm has never been worried
    about it.

If it wasn't in service mode & didn't go off when you removed the seat,
    it's not been fitted properly.

    Before :)

I got into work today and the annoying loud double bleep from the
datatool every 16 seconds had gone to a tweet, and by lunch time was a
    whimper. Goodbye battery!

    <boggle> Triumph factory fit.

They're fitted by the dealer, not Triumph. Many dealers are shit. I'd
still put my money on that being the problem. The main alarm wiring
just plugs into the bike's loom, but the seat-tamper switch has to be
fitted in the right place to work. If it's come loose & is permanently
open, the alarm will sound continuously & the bike won't start unless
    in service mode.

Nope, they are fitted at the dealership who sold it. I fitted loads to
new Triumphs when I worked at Flitwick. They leave the factory with the
Datatool wiring installed and a loop-wired blanking plug in place of
the alarm box, but that's it. 955is had no LED, seat switch or anything
else fitted, that was all done at the supplying dealer's. The 1050s are
slightly different, but only in as much as the LED is already factory
fitted into the clock binnacle, the rest still has to be installed at
    the dealer's.

Not likely to start at all at the moment due to the battery being
rather fucked after powering the datatool blipper for over 26 hours.

I've just got a bike that came with a System 3. It says in the
    handbook:

"If the level of charge in your motorcycle battery drops, the system
will go into Sleep Mode conserving remaining power."

I guess only if it's not broken?

Fucknoze. I threw it at the insurance company as I'm a bit skint at
the moment through no fault of my own (well, if I can't blame everyone
else for my problems then who can I blame?!) and didn't really want to
    start ratting an '04 Tiger.

The insurance company's contractor (BLD in Bournemouth) picked it up
this afternoon and the repair centre seem to think it's a write off.
Will phone them tomorrow afternoon and ask them to give me a
guestimate/update and have a philosophical conversation about the
    alarm.

I agree. This is why I'm going to call them tomorrow to discuss it.
The rear part of the frame might be slightly bent, and I guess they'll
want to slap a new petrol tank on it (I guess they're not cheap new)
but I guess NiG (underwriter) will have the final say on that one.

Worst case scenario, it might be worth seeing if you can get it cat
d'd and buy the salvage for a low enough price to justify fixing it up
whilst leaving the decorative bits slightly tatty. You might walk
away with cash and a working bike that way.

Haven't a clue - I've no idea what the going rate is. It's the one toy
