They have little in the way of quirkyness. The Ducati is so ugly that
it's beautiful in its own right.

I've sat on a Strom, they are quite top heavy. It's also like sitting in
a Renault Espace which is on the top of the BT tower. That screen is a
looooong way away, and the ground is a fair old distance from the seat.
Is a 27-28" inside leg dumpy enough?
I couldn't stand the embarrassment of being seen by other Strom owners
as being "the one" who had to have the 'stumpy-arsed-fucker' seat
    option.

I've had a couple of Renaults 21, a Citroen BX and currently a Pug
406, all in the past ten years. No real problems - bit of quirkiness,
bit of character, but no real probs.
Puller. It's the only way, really. Crudely cast little thing that
you bolt on to the hub with wheel bolts and tighten the central bolt.
That's a bit of a generalisation. Anyway, if the automatic adjuster
was working, you wouldn't need to - or are you referring to the
release lever, to let the shoes drop back from the drum, enabling drum
removal? Eitehr way, Elly's Clio has this facility and I think the
    406 does too.
They're all like that now. Got to make it difficult for the DIY man,
    innit.

That's only because they're scasred you'll hang around the place,
    making it look untidy.

Or worse, try to sell them helmets.

Well, I owned a BX followed by a ZX with the XUD engines. I don't
really have any complaints- cheap reliable motoring.

If I had to replace my car I would seriously consider another French
diesel although I think the game has moved on a bit in the last 7 years.

IIRC yours is not quite in standard tune. Mine isn't an early one, so
    that should be safe too...

Why not sell Loz your Bandit, and buy yourself a Speed Triple?
    Win-win, I'd have thought.

    The Fuglipla isn't questionable.

    It is unanswerable.

He was answering your question as to whether the 'Sporting' Suzuki
V-Twins had not made it big in the UK. In that context, he's
absolutely right - the SVs would not qualify as sports bikes in said
    company.
You may be right, but you'd snipped any content relevant to the
original question, so the reply you got was based only on your
posting, not anything earlier in the thread. It's the way newsgroups
    work, you know.

You sat on _my_ Strom :) And I think took it for a tour of the car
park. You are correct though, they do seem to carry the weight high up.
The exhausts weighing something like 10kg each don't help either.
They're on the list to be replaced with something light in due course
(this list is purely hypothetical of course - especially now I've seen
the ZZR1400 review in Bike... now where can I find £4000....)

I can just see Kwak being forced to do something to show they're
'sensible' - there's no way "Brake" et all are going to let that
machine out on the roads without some sort of moan.
Yes, you said that at the time :)

I suspect that is indeed a tad dumpy. I must have a very short body in
    relation to my legs.
    How would they know? :)

I still think it's lunacy that bike manufacturers don't let you specify
such things when you buy them - I couldn't ask for the lower seat only
as "the bike comes in a crate with the normal one - we can't remove it"
    - mad.

I think he means the anti-speeding lobby BRAKE
    (http://www.brake.org.uk/)
    political correctness.

To people who buy or love bikes - absolutely.

To people who've convinced themselves speed is the biggest evil in the
world or hate bikes, it's not.

Unfortunately whilst there may not be more of the latter, they
certainly seem more vocal than the first group.
