Time to get a 125

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Paul Carmichael, Apr 6, 2008.

  1. What's Spain got against big bikes? What's the situation in Blighty regarding road tax
    for bikes?

This is the road tax rates table for my village (bikes only - cars are rated by "fiscal
power" **** knows what that means):

    0 C.C. 125 C.C. 6,76 €
    126 C.C. 250 C.C. 11,58 €
    251 C.C. 500 C.C. 23,18 €
    501 C.C. 1000 C.C. 46,34 €
    1001 C.C. 999999 C.C. 92,69 €

I'm tempted to build a 90 litre bike just to take the piss.

92 euros? That's about the same as the 64 quid it cost me to tax to
    10R.

So, in summary, "boo hoo hoo".

    In the UK:

    Not over 150cc £15.00 = 19 Euro

    151-400cc £33.00 = 42 Euro

    401-600cc £48.00 = 61 Euro

    Over 600cc £66.00 = 84 Euro

That was probably the case when you taxed the bike. Since then the UK has
raised the UK rate to £66 and the £ has dropped significantly against the
euro. See my other post, where £66 is worth under 84 euros.
    Indeed

  7. What I was commenting on was the scale. ie; binary. 6.76 euros per year for a 125.

  9. So there they penalise the little bikes and here we get slapped for having litre bikes.

I wonder if it will level out as uk gets more scoots and Spain gets more bigbikes.
