Valid point. Although I'm certain any hamfisted twat can flip one
even without the TRE. I'll report back when the sun comes out.

From what I've read it smooths the power delivery in the lower gears but
allows all of it to be exploited. I find the throttle a bit snatchy down
low anyway, so if I could smooth it out I'd be happy. That would be 27
    quid well spent.

Well, if you do get one, then make sure you get an "active" one which
switches itself off when the bike is in neutral. Otherwise, it can make the
bike stall and idle very roughly.

I looked at these but never got round to getting one. Some on ebay look
shite whereas others look reasonably well made.

I still feel it is wrong and you should be looking to deal with it
yourself. My opinion and I am sticking to it but I feel it is well
    valid.

This is a result of a too powerful bike wanting to be ridden
enthusiastically on the wrong bit of road innit, you are having trouble
    controlling it round town right?

Wrong bike syndrome innit? Happens to all you kiddies when you hit A
    Certain Age.

Yes Grandad, now go make another cocoa and don't go so heavy on the
    sugar this time.
Power is fine, if you can handle it, which I think I can. I don't want
to ride it enthusiastically round town, I want the power delivery to be
    smoother.
Yeah, like you're ever going to see me riding some piece of shit
cruiser. I'm about 70 years off that ever happening; I'm 43, you do the
    maths.

I *think* the better ones read the neutral switch so as to switch in
    the correct resistor when idling.

If you want it properly sorted get a Power Commander and a couple of
hours on a dyno. You get what you pay for IMO and every racer and
tuner I've ever spoken to has said don't bother. I've never actually
fitted one though so "this advice is worth what you paid for it".

That's exactly the sort of advice I was after.

    Thanks

You need a nice little half sized model for that you do.

I'd understood they were there to help get the bike past the drive by
noise standards without fitting an even larger silencer.

The K1 is snatchy [1] and I found the TRE helped. It makes the throttle
snappier but certainly not like an off/on switch. In the dry it's fine but
in the wet I switch it back to standard.

    [1] Well mine is.

    Mine's fine. But then I cam from a GSXR750 which had Suzuki's
original FI system on it. Now that was snatchy.

I've not tried one, but I've heard rumours that they make lower gears
    less snatchy.

I have been tempted for that reason alone.

Mine too, a great improvement over my 'Blade. 2000 onwards Suzuki's
are renowed for having the best injection system on the market.

He has seen one though. But he does have a point..no bike is a shopping

No? The V-Strom with a 52l top box and 2 41l side cases hauls quite a
bit of stuff from the market.

Never shagged a geezer either and I ain't about to start on either. A
litre bike is an unnecessary extravagance for me (and most others imho)
really. I have nowhere to use one enough to warrant owning one.

On my last round of bike purchases I was, yet again, looking for a bike
with a bigger engine than my half litre norm and, except for the VT
which is a different thing altogether, fell in love with another 500.
