RMT used to make a political contribution, when did that change?

I wasn't dissing them, from the point of view of the fund management
    industry, they're manna from heaven.

Very rare that is, as rare as a dog that speaks Norwegian.

  7. Iirc, lot of compulsory o/t for those left, supervisors and managers
manning the desks, a hurried intake of raw recruits. ATC jobs were in
demand at the time as many poor saps thought it was somehow a job worth
having. Hhahaha, little did they know.

    Oh I do, too.
I have no experience in this area, at all. I'm not really sure about the
    'limited funds' bit.

Perhaps they agree with the idea of unions, but feel those specific
    disputes are un-reasonable?

    That's my experience.

Incidentally, being forced to re-ballot usually results in a higher
turnout and a higher yes vote, again, IME.

Perhaps "limited" is the wrong word. There are a lot of calls on union
funds, and administration doesn't always get much of a look-in -
particularly, as sweller says, at branch level. I'm not justifying it,
    merely saying how it appears.

Maybe it needs more focus if the unions would like to prevent this kind
of thing happening. Not saying that it *does* mind. Just making a view.

  18. No, they disagree with anything that might slightly inconvenience them;
    pure and simple.

I thought the BA strike action was unecessary (the union's offered
savings close to those the company were looking for, give or take- the
strike has surely cost BA more; and I think it's all about BA trying to
beat the unions). I was absolutely disgusted that pilots were
training to act as strike busters- I'd certainly have been spitting in
their tea if I was cabin crew...
