Steep drives with a slight coating of gravel are not the best places
to turn around in if one wants one's brake lever to stay attached to
    the bike.

And I've still got a problem with sharp blind left handers.

Better get a pattern brake lever before that Bike Safe course in a
    week or so then...

I`m ok on any corner (in a soggy-suspensioned SOB kind of way) , but
occasionally, just ocasionally, I`ll go through a short phase where
right-handers just freak me out, and I`ll end up wobbling around `em like
Joey Deacon on acid. Teddy-bear braking into them, difficult lines around
them. I`ll eventually get one just right again and I`ll be ok for another
    few months then.

    Weird, it is. Just weird.

Scared myself running wide a while back (because I rolled off - not
sure why, just had a you're going too fast and that's tight moment)
left me with a mental block about taking a decent line in case there's
a cage in the middle of the road, I thought I'd sorted it but as Loz H
    puts it

" wobbling around `em like Joey Deacon on acid. Teddy-bear braking
into them, difficult lines around them."

Coming through twisties today one loomed in front of me as I'd come
through a right hander on a crap line as well and I just thought 'I
can't get round that' (which of course turns into a self fulfilling
prophesy) and braked hard, sat it up and just generally wasn't in the
zone at all. Major hayfever wasn't helping and the bouncy road from
hell a couple of miles before had unsettled me. Dropping the fucker
and having to come back from Bakewell on just the back brake was a
    blessing in disguise I think.

See if this extra training helps, but give us a shout next time you're
sorting a Dave Corden weekend. I feel like it has all gone pear shaped
atm and I have a feeling the enthusiastic dancing just undertaken is
going to leave me a bit stiff and sore when I wake up so the 'get back
out there and sort it' plan may not happen.

  10. Consider this: Slow Down.

Then once you've got the rythym of getting them right, speed up a bit.

  11. If that was directed to LN, then I'd guess it's a desire to do better.
Wasn't that long ago LN got her licence after all.
    well quite.
<g> I had a few of those moments yesterday. Along with having the B12
absolutely flat out, with my flat (well, you know what I mean) on the
tank, for an extended period. And I was still being passed by all and
    sundry :(
    Could be.
See above for my guess on LN. For Champ, it's probably denial ;)

  13. Everyone has off days. Sometimes I think "if I keep going like this,
something silly is going to happen" and back right off. I realise it's a
bit like admitting defeat, but at least I'll be able to have another go
    tomorrow.

Or, IME life's too short to worry and 'Good enough is good enough'.

Hmm. Well I guess that is important. I forget that I've had several
years to become 'comfortable' with how I ride.
Well, I always found it easier to ride a large bike fast badly than a
    small one...
I never understood that line. Probably didn't help that I heard it as "A
    beetle eared woman"

this sounds like a different Steve to the guy I rode (me on my TRX850,
Champ on his new-ish Gixer Thou, you on a 9r) with (with Champ and Ben
Sales?) on that run from that pub somewhere to somewhere else where you
came out with the inspirational (to me) line about "I really enjoyed
that last bit; some particularly dangerous overtakes". That day
augmented my personal "anything you got away with was inherently safe
by definition" philosophy". Please tell me you've not gone soft.
    oh, yes.

I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but for me it goes back to stupid
    pedal-cycle antics as a kid.
