    Champ says...
There's a Tesco at the top of Jubilee Way in Whitfield just outside
Dover too. My sister lives about 200 yards from it. I dunno if the
petrol station on the roundabout is still open, it didn't look like it
last time I was down that way last year.

Mapsource reckons 36.5 miles from the port exit roundabout to the Esso
    station at Maidstone services.

Sorry, when I said "35 euro bottle of sancerre", was it not clear
    enough?

It was a hotel after all.

Even then... wine in restaurants is about three times what you would pay
in a shop. But here we are talking about x5 or x7, or it was the mother
    of all Sancerre wines.

My trip must be out as well because I've always reckoned it was about
40 miles from Dover to those services. I can get to Dover on a single
tank full but it'd be very fucking close to running out so I usually
fill up at Maidstone and have a coffee whilst doing so.

I said "Hmm, looks like somehow a bottle of wine's ended up on my bill
instead of the purchaser's, so I'll cover it since otherwise the hotel's
going to be out of pocket for something almost certainly sold, and I'll
try and find out who the lucky blighter was later."

If being decent warrants personal insults, more fool me, eh?

    Indeed. Another great weekend.
He has a knack of doing that to people.

You start off just "going out for a ride" with Champ and come back with
a shit-eating grin that sticks around until it's replaced by a
    shit-faced grin.

I did Bolougne to Bracknell on a far less than a tankful[1]. You need
a nice sports tourer, you do.

[1] The fuel light hadn't come one and Computer[2] say "65 miles to
    empty".
[2] Computer also say max. speed attained this weekend 141.8. Pretty
poor but my excuse is that I was "running in".

What *did* we have for dinner on Saturday? I can't remember anything
    (food-wise) after the sorbet whatsoever.

There were at least three Chrisses[1] there.

[1] Is that how you pluralise it?

Erm, for starters about 6 pints of Stella. Oh no, hang on, that was in
    a bar in town[1].

Pate, sorbet, veal, cheese and some pudding. I think.

Followed by another load of whatever-it-was in Nancy's bar.

[1] With some amazing top-totty in it, eh SeanH?

That was on the way back to Calais. I dropped back a bit to get a good
run but found I caught you up again a bit too quickly, so had to ease
off a bit prematurely. I think you had slowed down to about 110 by
then and I didn't want to rear-end Cane!
I reckon there's a hidden turbo or nitrous injector on that SV of
yours. I can no longer think of an SV as "chick wheels".
