I'm thinking at that mileage it should go pretty cheap, average Ducati
    buyers being as they are.

  2. I'd have thought about £3500-3750.

    SIG change!!

Very nice bloke. Has owned it from new. Totally standard and immaculate,
bar new wavy discs and a scottoiler. Bought, and serviced on the dot,
    from Ducati Leeds.
As per the 996 I'm impressed by the build quality and corrosion
    resistance, top notch.
Ohlins forks and shock (hydraulic preload adjuster) with Brembo
goldlines. Carbon hugger come chainguard. Nonfango luggage. Power
    takeoff.

    £3250

Just need to get the seat re-foamed with something comfortable and gell
    like.

So can someone tell me how to deactivate the horrible factory
    alarm/immobiliser!

  4. ***** me*, that's a lot of bike for very little cash.

    <Envy, envy>

As regards corrosion resistance, it's odd, but I find this as well with
my 10 year-old (nearly) 750SS. The paint is lifting on some engine
cases, and the black chrome on the silencers is a bit ropey, but
    otherwise, it's damn good.

Indeed it is, quite a hit for the original owner. I saw 2 service bills,
he does nothing mechanical himself, over £700. One included £360 for the
discs. The other £450 for the panniers. I shall be buying the little
tool for belt tensioning. It lives under a haze of FS365, never been out
in winter but has been to Spain, France and Italy.

It's high'ish miles of course. That would put most Duke owners off and
it's a very niche bike. At that price I'm happy to write it down to
almost zero in 2 years so selling it on etc. wasn't a consideration for
me. I'll get the best part of 3 grand back for the B12 custom.
I'm repeating myself but the 1998 996 was top notch BMW/Honda of old
quality. This looks every bit as good.

  7. Not Those Who Know. Always better to see above-average miles and signs
of a caring owner, than ultra-low miles and a thick layer of dust where
    nothing's been touched.

  8. As you're now a French Runner, I'm next in the queue for the traditional
    Saturday afternoon CIHAGM-fest.
