And that's a bad thing. He (IMO) was a fucking great rider. Commiserations to his family.
Gutted. He's the one I was cheering on in Moto2, he was bonkers in the first race. What a shitty way to go too.
As soon as it happened I thought it was a bad crash. Has there been any word on Scott Redding because he looked in a bad way as well. Those Italian marshals need educating on how to handle an injured rider because they basically shoveled Redding onto the stretcher without any bracing at all then proceeded to drop Tomizawa as they carried him away. Yep.
I think a few stitches in his arse. No broken bones. It was a really nasty crash. I was pretty sure he bought it instantly.
His death was announced then, looking at the crash footsge Im with Nige with this one, he died pretty much instantly. -- Gavin. Moto Guzzi California Aquila Nera Suzuki GSXR600K1 Twitter: http://twitter.com/gavin_wilby Blog: http://www.eekafreek.com

Sad loss. Brought it home when they put his picture up at the end of the MotoGP report -- 1990-2010. 1990? WTF? I must be getting old. That too, but as Champ said, not really that much point in it. I wonder if that's why the BBC seems to have withdrawn the iPlayer footage of the support races? (It was shown as available for a while, but nothing downloaded. Then it disappeared.) -- Ivan Reid, School of Engineering & Design, _____________ CMS Collaboration, Brunel University. Yup. Seems like he lost the front exiting the corner though? I thought the UKRM matra was this never happened? I know he was on the kerb at the time, but even so.
Well I'm not King Kenny, but I've never lost the front on the gas either, so he could well have a point. And anyway, Tomizawa seemed to lose the back before he went down.

The article says that they are making inquiries as to whether or not the volunteers were properly equipped. It could be that they are going after the organizers for, in effect, negligence.
That won't help Tomizawa and it won't help them to get marshals next time they hold a race there. I'd be looking at who organised the meeting and how they ensured the marshals were adequately trained. Mind you, I have a slightly biased view on this because I was encouraged to go for proper training by the TTMA yet they get slated by MCN.
