It was a catalogue of errors today.

The battery was dead, not just discharged but dead. Even my trusty optimate
couldn't revive it. I decided to buy a new battery, after all, the old one
is almost five years old. Everything lit up so I pressed the starter.
ratatatatatatatatat. It looks like the starter soleniod has packed in. So no
riding today.

 

You're right, it's on charge now but the solenoid is still gone
