Tomtom in decent customer service shocker

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by the man with no idea, Jun 9, 2009.

  1. Last year, prior to my Nurburgring trip, I bought a SD card with WE
maps for my ONE v2 off ebay. It never worked quite right with Tomtom
Home (and customer services were bugger all use with that) but the
    maps worked ok.

A couple of months ago it just started locking up - yet it worked ok
with the original UK maps. I thought I'd give the help line another go
and ended up talking to someone called Robert.

Over a period of several days (working around UK and Dutch hols and
various periods of downloading) he must have called me back 5 times,
exactly as arranged, until the problem was solved. It turned out my
maps were corrupt and he credited my account with a fresh download.

I just was clutching at straws really, given Tomtom's record of
customer care, and was pleasantly surprised. So I won't be investing
    in a Garmin just yet.

Yeah, mine got fixed, out of warranty and collected and delivered FOC.
And I have the Garmin Zumo 550 and the Tomtom is a better Satnav IMO,
    in regards to the UI.
I like the mp3 player on the Zumo, mind, and the mounting is much
    better.
