Has anyone who lives near Bedford got one?

Mine's gone into a major sulk since it got a bit cold and damp and
though it charges ok using the mains plug it's not having any of it
when it's in the bike mount. What I want to do is try it in a
different mount so I know which part is causing the problem though I'm
pretty well convinced it'll be the bike mount because it had about 12"
of snow sitting on it for three days.

I've contacted TomTom support and I'm now waiting for their tech team
(ha!) to get back to me tomorrow but googling has shown that they
reject any claim where you can't find the receipt and I haven't got a
    clue where mine is.

I've tried plugging it into the feed on my 10R and it still isn't
charging proving it isn't a power supply problem so I suppose the next
step is to get some contact cleaner from Maplins and give everything a
bloody good clean up. TomTom might do the decent thing so I'm not
going to pull anything apart (yet) but if they **** me off I'll want
to prove which bit is buggered before making a decision on where to go
    next.

It should have a USB socket somewhere on it.. try hooking it up to
your laptop with the right kind of cable and that would also charge
    it.

It might well charge off the USB but like I said earlier, it charges
off the mains plug so it's not actually a battery problem.

I can buy a new cradle for it for under £50 (if TomTom refuse to fix
it) but I want to check it in a different cradle to make sure that's
the problem before spending the money.

I've got a simple plan sorted out and it goes like this:

Ask TomTom to fix it under warranty.

If they refuse to fix it then I determine which bit is fucked.

If it's the satnav I bin the lot, if it's the cradle I try to repair
    it.

If I can't get it working I buy a new cradle.

So you see now why I asked the original question?

If you boght it with a credit or debit card that should suffice as proof
    of purchase.

My chav nav really didn't like the cold or the vibration either but
since it only cost me £50 I'll let it off with it. Still works in the car.

Can't remember if Steve's Garmin behaved itself or not.

Might be tempted to go for a proper hardened bike one, quite liked not
having to memorise routes and I ended up heading the wrong way on the A9
when I hit Amsterdam just as my chav nav conked out.

    Oh... and according to http://www.tomtomforums.com/tomtom-rider/16277-rider-not-charging-hard-wired-bike-mount.html
It should be giving you +5v on the left pinout.

Yes, second hand Zumo 400 with 2009 maps on an SD card. No problems at
all and a total cost of about 150 quid.

Do I look like I need an excuse?

Wait until they say what they'll do and then we'll make a plan. Not
having to try the satnav doesn't mean we don't do beer and food
    though...
