Well-pleased - just managed to get one of these through ebay from the
Currys/pcworld outlet. Boxed, new with European maps and the cardo scala
headset etc for £267 incl delivery.

Clicked BIN on Friday and it arrived at the office DHL just now.

I fit mine on the K by removing the bolts from the clutch lever clamp, &
mounting the arm with the ram mount on there with longer screws, worked a
    treat.

Ta, already got a Telferizer ram ball mount in the top yoke (screws in
wherte the BMW logo cover usually sits) - very tidy.

    Works for me.

I've just found a fucking annoying limitation with their maps though.
The Western & Central Europe map is over 2GB so has to be loaded onto
the TomTom in zones, you can have one zone on at a time and each zone
covers part of the total map.

The pisser is that the zones are predefined, so it's utterly impossible
to have a map loaded that covers both the UK and the Czech Republic.

If you have no plans to go further east than Austria, you'll be OK. In
the meantime, I've got a cunning plan...

Oh, bugger, yeah, I couldn't get hold of him on Friday. I'll give him a
    shout now.

    <pats Garmin>

mine allows me to select which map tiles I want on the 2Gb card. If I leave
off Scandinavia & Iberia I can get the rest of Europe on it. If I wanted
Spain as well that will fit on a separate 256Mb card which can be swapped
    over at the Piri-knees.

If I wanted to spend 600 quid on a satnav, I'd pat a Garmin too.
That's the cunning plan - two SD cards, one with Western Europe on, the
other with Central. Hopefully it'll work.

On a better note, we're now booked for the San Marino MotoGP. Game on!

Mine used to do that until I decided to pay the cash for a card with
all of Europe pre-loaded so I don't need to worry about whether or not
I've got the right card or if I've made a mess of loading off the CD.

I'd never pay £600 for a satnav. Mine is one of the end of line 2610s that
were knocked out for £200. Does the job I want it for i.e. getting the last
few km to a hotel. Most holiday routes are committed to memory long before
the actual trip as I like looking at maps, whether hard copies or via
google et al. Although, the route I've picked to get from Alsace to
Rocamadour is a little complex and may need some guidance from the gizmo.

I was patting my Garmin 2610 as well..... trying to get it to function
    again ;)

I bought it 2nd hand for £150 from ebay a couple of yars ago, it did an
OK job. The original sales receipt was in the box - it was originally
sold for around £900 as a Triumph accessory.

That's not far off what I paid for my 2620. The 2610 wasn't much cheaper.

Well quite. The "how far left to go" indicator can be useful, or
    depressing.
I've been in a map frenzy the last few days, now that holiday plans are
really starting to crystallise. Best of all, I have an excuse to buy
    more. Wahey!

Yes, my trip is going into parts French I don't have the used to be yellow
but now gone orange 1/200000 maps for. I might have to splash out on a few
more as I like the detail they give for twisty bits.

I understand from reading the interweb thingy you can make your own
    collections of maps.
