I heard that if you haven't declared SORN on the basket cases
in the garden shed, that were last taxed in 1997, then it's too late
and you will have to re-register them at great expense.
Anyone know the truth of the matter?

I can't find the reg docs for the Enfield and the C15

I phoned then (when I eventually got past "All of our 220 lines are
currently busy") and I got told to just send them in as soon as I could.

The bod on the other end didn't seem to concerned or indicate there was
any sense of urgency about it (but then again it's not his problem, I
    suppose)

I was told by the DVLC that it wasn't a problem and you won't have to pay £18
for each new logbook unless you can't find the old ones in the end. An old
style logbook won't be valid for a producer, though the cops only ever seem
interested in the tax insurance and MOT anyway, unless ownership is in
    dispute.
