Yes. 20 years of riding and racing pushbikes makes me quite certain
that changing the stem length effects how a bike rides.

So you're saying changing the stem length causes a bike's handling?

Weird. I'm not sure that even makes sense.

    Effects, causes, what is difference?

I'm merely being a spelling and grammar nazi here, despite my best
efforts to resist. For some reason I have no issue with grocers
apostrophe's but affect/effect and advise/advice drive me nuts.

Still, it keeps me occupied and that's the important thing.

Given It'll move the bars forward or back from the pivot point, and
chanage the amount of weight over the front wheel then there's bound
to be some change in how things feel. Maybe not *loads* but some.

    You're so paranoid.

I'm having a pop at myself for being a tinpot grammar nazi.

Nope. Loads is about right. The effect is more pronounced with
the more weight you have over the front wheel, so with road race
bikes and all out racing MTBs, it really is quite a drastice effect.
Less so with more sit up and beg leisure bikes, but still a very
    pronounced affect.

Shorter makes it harder to turn the bars, also puts less of the
rider's weight over the front so it can get more twitchy when riding
off-road. Longer makes it easier to turn, but harder to be more
accurate, but makes the front more planted.

Rake and trail do have even more of an effect though.
