So did I. It just had the ring of truth.
    Wasn't it just.

    Support Osama Bin Laden!

    Impeach Tony Blair!

Reduce age of consent to 12!

Clean up your town - kidnap a copper today!

    I buy Afghan poppies!

What intrigues me is why the filling station owner felt the need to call
for a truck load of local boys to intimidate them, all they wanted was
    some petrol.

Sign write "Mohammed was a cock sucking fag" over a car and drive round
Bradford. I imagine the result will be the same.

These days I think "Support Tony Blair" would be more likely to get the mob
    mobilised.

  9. I've just watched it. My ribs HURT now. Oh, God, when he positioned the pick
up the first time. And then hit the damn Caddy twice more.
Someone actually designed and made that.
That bit, I found almost too worrying to be funny - it does bemuse me that
people can get that violent about stuff written on a car, ffs.
    Clarkson getting outraged about N'awleans.
    Road kill.....

  10. There's no "nowadays" about it. They were doing that in the late 1980s.

  13. heh. You remember when Kawasaki launched the ZZR1100 in the USA?

I think a couple of Italian journalists spent a night in jail :)[/QUOTE]

Yes, I remember that. Arizona, IIRC.

When we were riding in NM, in 1988, wewere specifically warned by our
hosts that people would phone Plod if you overtook them doing silly
    speeds.

Oh, and they might pull a gun on you if you filtered. They weren't
    joking.

In the average american? Well, assuming you mean on the average
american road I may not entirely agree. On the freeways around New
Jersey amd in the Bay area of Cal. I've noticed that a fair proportion
of drivers are happy to do that sort of speed. I've even been
    overtaken at times, FFS.

    OIC. As you were then.
You've been renting the wrong 4x4s then. Presumably SUVs rather than
trucks? Rather counter-intuitively, the Dodge Ram we had in Canada a
couple of seasons ago was very happy at high-ish speeds, at least up
to the 180kph I saw on a few occasions. Certainly at around 150 it was
just purring along and felt as stable as a rock.

If ever I was to follow Blaney to the US, one of these would be top of
    my shopping list.
