sure. I can think of counter-examples though: how good-v-influential
(on popular music as a whole, as opposed to in their own genre) were:
Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Can, Tangerine Dream, The Cocteau Twins etc.
    etc.
well, that line is familiar, but I can't place it into the context of
    the overall song.
"Kick out the Jams" is the best rock song, ever.

We don't need quotes to know you're being pretentious.

And plain wrong IMHO. GM was rubbish at stereo mixing.

It's not the quality that I take issue with but the mix.

Srsly, there were better contemporaneous stereophonic mixes.

Not actually by Can but they were the backing band and produced it.

I know it's highly unlikely, but even if it were to be hugely
lucrative, I'd suggest you never consider a job with our mob, I'm sure
there are literally divisions full of people that have been
genetically engineered to talk that kind of shit, and the worrying
thing is 'how easily it infects the corporate DNA' [1].

The other problem is that after passing on the phrases to customers
many then leave, and spread their nonsense speak to other companies,
as proactively as their synergies[2] allow.

    The bastards.

[1] This is meant only as a parody, I refuse to talk like that.
[2] Oh dear, looks like it's poison o'clock.

I never really thought it wierd, just boring and long.
(One of) mine too, as it happens. Then again, they're all my
    favourites.

My absolute pet hate at the moment, beyond the usual loathing of anyone
using three syllables where two will do, is the use of the reflexive
pronoun where it really doesn't belong.

"If you send that to myself" - grr!

It's just so jarring. And it's part of the same problem - people trying
to use longer words so they sound more impressive. Sheer
    counterproductive pomposity.

Get in line, young'un - I've been arguing against that for years.

I find it most often in customer facing people, who seem to think that
referring to me as "you" in conversation is somehow rude, so they use
'yourself' - "I'll get the documents sent to yourself immediately"

    Asyou say - grrrr.
