After crushing dried bird's eye chillies by hand when cooking, do NOT
absent-mindedly rub your eyes because the hay-fever has made them itchy. On
the plus side - you will no longer be concerned about the itching eyes. On
the down side - you will be blind and in agony.

This has been a public service announcement.

I suspect I've told this one before, but... A few years ago when I was
sharing a house with some friends one of them forgot to wash his hands after
preparing chillies and before going for a wee. As he was forever boasting
about how big his todger was, the rest of us more averagely sized men were
amused to think of how much more pain he was suffering.

Or, as I discovered recently, stick your finger up your nose.

I was chopping chillies once and reached a convenient point and popped
    upstairs for a piss.

I can tell you that one looks very silly waving ones todger under a
    cold tap.

not really - it's fucking obvious.

here's a proper "top tip": if you're going to be handling properly hot
chillies, pour a little olive oil onto your palm and work it around
both hands. Then, after you've dealt with the chillies, wash your
hands with hot water and soap - the oil will have absorbed the
capsaicin from the chillies and wash off leaving your hands non-hot.

This also works when you're chopping garlic, so you don't have "garlic
    fingers" for hours afterwards.

Failing that, wash your hands afterwards in soap and *cold* water.
Warm water opens the pores and allows some of the chilli and garlic to
be absorbed for a delayed appearance.

Nor, after preparing a rather fine penne al'arabiatta for a prospective
    girlfriend, your finger up...

Exit no-longer-prospective girlfriend, with the bottle of baby lotion I'd
    been saving for later

    OK, TMI

In a similar vein, don't go for a piss either.
