  4. Heh. Love the bloodstains on the bike in the last pic. Don't you dare
wash those off. Lacquer them in place :))

  8. 'Yamaha Off Road Experience'; hope it's different from the Yamaha off
    road experience I had yesterday...

Anyway... head fits in my openface helmet so I'm off out in a few
    minutes on the XT.

I think Steve has his sights set on a bigger target but if you fancy a
bit of off roading in the desert join the rest of us when we go and
    get lost in Morocco.
It can't be that hard. I've not ridden off road (apart from when I've
been crashing road bikes) for over 30 years but I'm confident I'll be
    ok.

  10. Although it's a tad pricey, in theory I'd be well up for that,
depending on how the Pyrenees trip goes.
Quite. I've done a few hours of mild off roading, so I'm sure 2.5 days
in the Pyrenees can't be that much harder.

Ours was "The Clough" (now home to some nice houses) and the bike was a
Beezer Goldie. They can actually climb trees, they do.

    Well almost.

When we was teenagers, an old mate of mine called me to help recover
his 150cc Vespa. All I could get out of him on the phone was: "It's in
    a fucking tree, bring rope".

He'd gone down a road which had just been 'surface dressed' - you know,
the old 2mm of tar, 50mm of loose chippings - and he'd wandered out of
the car tyre tracks. It seemed that his little wheels had got a bit
swamped, then a big bit of gravel had wedged itself between the back of
the front mudguard and the front of the bodywork - on about half left
lock, as he swerved about trying to keep it upright.

The ramp of chippings had helped him clear the kerb, then he went
across the grass and straight up an old semi-recumbent cherry tree.
Straight up the trunk, till he fell off. I couldn't stand up for
laughing when I saw it. It was solid wedged, though, in all those
little branches that cherries have, straight off the trunk.

It yielded to the old tow rope round the back end and drive away,
though - came down in a shower of little branches, loads of leaves and
bits of yellow Vespa. Started first kick, though, so I made him ride
it home and then take me to the pub. POS scooter.

It's just you get better scenery to fall into.
