I drank a bottle once when in an 'excited' state. Can't remember much
but I'd been sent to bed (in a friends house) for being overly abusive.
I apparently projectile vomitted onto the ceiling and was found a bit
later on lying on my back, covered in vomit and gurgling away trying to
breath through it.

 

Definitely pastis, water then ice.

But what are the correct ratios for the magical perroquet?

Do you think it'll work with rakı?

I'm getting a bit bored of Efes and we need to tax the bar staffs
ability to deal with weird requests from foreigners.

 

it's different for everybody. you have to work out what works for you.

i see no a priori reason it wouldn't work with raki. probably improve the
flavour somewhat

 

I couldn't fail to agree less.

Large tumbler, fill it to the top with large chunks of ice, then pour
pastis until it's 1/2 way up the side of the glass, and top up with
water.

it gets weaker as the ice melts, and you then maintain an "bottomless
glass" by micro-topups of pastis/water/ice as needed.

 

err, that's not *exactly* what I meant...

 

For me, no ice is the way forward.

 

You need to try this with chilled white wine instead of water, and possibly
leaving out the ice.

I haven't got any "chilled white wine" but I have a bottle of Vodka in the
freezer, would that do instead?

Hmm, tall glass, couple of measures of pastis, topped up with vodka? Go for
it.
