Got back Friday from a 3 day tour of Wales with Dad. Had a right good
time despite the very best of Welsh weather on Thursday. Tour basically
went from Brum to Caernarfon via Shrewsbury, Horseshoe pass and Rhyl.
Then down to Tenby via the coast and back home through the Brecons on
    Friday.

Highs: Excellent empty roads when the weather was clear.
Really enjoyed hooning around Anglesey on Wednesday evening when the
weather was just about perfect, we also stopped for a cheesy photo shot
at LlanfairPG (as it's now known on maps).
Brilliant ride back on Friday when the rain held off.
Sharing a room and quality time with the old man, perhaps the highlight.
His feet may smell and he may snore like a badly oiled chainsaw but he's
    good company!

Lows: Leaving in rain on Thursday, spending all day (give or take)
riding in the rain and arriving in Tenby in the rain, only for the sun
to come out once we'd locked the bikes away.
Realising the flash in my mirrors was my father in law's brand new
digital camera bouncing out of my pocket into a layby and doing itself
no favours, worse still this was about 3 miles from home.

Unexpected bonus: Fazer returning 55mpg on Thursday due to extreme PFF
riding on diesel soaked mountain downhills. Somewhat better than the
28mpg I got at Mallory earlier in the month!

Where next? We're thinking France next year with the girls driving the
support car or maybe even Scotland later this year.

You should've popped in on your way by ;)

What about Ireland? I'm off there on Saturday. 2 people and the bike 64
    quid return from Holyhead.

  3. Heh! Not so sure you'd have appreciated me dripping rain water all over
    the place.

Where's that then? I do like riding in Wales, we stopped in Aberystwyth
and I met one of my old uni friends who is still there. I shall be
visiting him there in a few weeks time.
Did think about that as we headed towards Holyhead in search of a petrol
station (10 miles into reserve with no sign of one for the past 20
minutes). That's one which is definately worth thinking about for later
    in the year.

Heh, yep we did see a couple of vans. It's all relative you see,
"hooning" to me doesn't mean quite the same thing as some others here.
Especially when I have to wait for the old man to catch up!

Steve Pennycooke fumbled, fiddled and fingered:
I'm just a couple of miles from the cafe at the Horseshoe Pass.

Borg is over Aberystwyth way I believe.

That expressway across Anglesey is a tad short on service stations, if
you turn onto any of the towns/villages just off it there's usually one.

Definately! Actually the support car idea (which is what I assume you're
talking about) was the SOs idea. She and mum take the kids in the car,
dad and I go on the bikes and have a few days off from looking after
kids etc to explore bits of France.

Not a bad idea IMHO, at least it cuts down on what we have to carry.
