Places where I've worked that have banned it, and web mail, and things
like Dropbox, have done so, not because their employees waste time on
them, but because they're concerned about something being distributed
that shouldn't be. Current one is a large financial institution, and
they're all banned, even writing to USB keys, to prevent anything
getting off the systems that shouldn't.

They also have a huge screensaver that kicks in after 5 seconds that
says "Be aware of fellow employees committing fraud! Inform security if
you suspect anything!".

 

A very good point. I haven't had anything to do with banks.
