Devoid of all of it. Only two motorcycles ever looked good with purple
on them, 750H2 Kawasaki and Yamaha FS1E

Hmm I've had a YPVS on race wets all over my 996 at Knockhill. Makes all the
difference that does, 'cause obviously he was a far far worse rider than me.

Wouldn't work. What you actually need to do is use the anonymous third
person, 'one'. As the French and Germans do.

Well you are "sufficiently rapid" compared to the general populace lets say,
though granted it's all different on a race track.
I get a similar effect on the track, leaving the braking respectably late I
find myself strangely reluctant to let go the lever at the peel in point and
throw the fucker down. I shout to myself inside the helmet. Of course if I
was a track god I would be peeling in still on the brake some.

I was asking Champ about this and being on the brake a little is a *good*
idea to stop it pogoing. So what happens to you when you're reluctant to tip
it in? Presumably you run out of track.

It's not that I am reluctant to tip it in, it's just getting off the brake
early enough. Means you run wider/slower, in a race scenario someone is
going to stuff it up the inside line. I do come off the front brake slowly
to stop any bounce but the top boys are on the lever to the apex I believe.
I have run out of track twice since this started, Knockhill and Silverstone,
but managed to MX it back to the black stuff both times. 996 was that
    forgiving.

Better to ride home again as an old woman than be carted out as a failed
    hero.
Enjoy anyway, I'm a bit jealous.

I was in your situation (have a Thunderace and two GPZ). Then I saw a 1500
euros (that could be negotiated to 1200) '88 CBR ready for track. It is all
    said.

(At the end I bought a XR600 that can be used for both enduro and
supermotard with a set of 17" wheels that I got from a GS500)

Also, I have ridden a post '94 GPZ500 and another '88 CBR600 in the same
track (Cartagena) The GPZ disappointed me, a former fan of this model, as a
track bike. Both exhaust were touching the ground too early, and that model
does not permit the pre-load adjustment that my [too many] kilos require.
Instead I enjoyed the GS500 (but don't tell anyone).

Anyway, if you want to simply have fun and fight against your own lap times,
    what the hell, enjoy it!

Certainly. That's why I am looking to Supermotard. There are several tracks
in a circle of radius 70kms from Barcelona and the cost in one of them for
12 rides of 15 is just 30 euros (that's 3 hours on the track). 30 minutes in
Montmelo cost 42 euros. Get some 17000 euros if you want to hire it with
some 100 friends and have 7x20' (2 hours and a half) sessions.

Only problem of supermotard: Sometimes you happen to meet the Bulto family
(descendants of Don Paco Bulto from Bultaco) including a Sete Gibernau
Bulto. It is hard to be humiliated so explicitly! :-D

As I said, a GS500 is even better for cornering and worse for straights,
that was discussed in the defuncted sports-twin.com site, and stated by me
    in Cartagena.

BTW, in Andalucia they have organized a low cost championship called "Copa
Trail" where people run with enduro like bikes prepared a-la-supermotard but
instead of the usual "inner foot goes first" style of supermotard, they lean
the bike and drag the inner knee (they're rather people coming from
supersport, out of money). Lap times are interesting.

I doubt he'll use £80 of rubber in a day on a GPZ500. I've so far got one
day and two evenings (11 sessions total) and reckon I'll get another one or
two evenings out of my BT010s. OK, so they're not super-sticky track rubber,
but they're notorious for getting chewed-up on track.

You can easily buy ex-racer tyres, which have only done a couple of races,
for very little money (though perhaps not in GPZ500 sizes).

A lot depends on how hot a day it is as well - I chewed my tyres up more in
the three sessions yesterday, than in the two previous (and much cooler)
    times out combined.
    Take sandwiches.
