Anybody have a definative answer to what type of hitches are leagl in Oz. I
live in SA and bought a trailer with a pin type hitch but when trying to
order the pin tpye tow bar for the bike I was told they are illegal!!!!!
But there are lots of trailers in SA with pin hitches!!!
I am loathe to spen $155 getting a 50mm socket put on the trailer if I don't
    need to. All help appreciated.

Who told you? Someone trying to sell you something else, or covering up
the fact they can't sell what you want, or the Goverment department that
    has responsibility for such things?

Go get it from the horse's mouth, all it will cost is a phone call.

Tried talking to the govt.......still waiting. The mob trying to sell me the
    50mm socket are in QLD.
There is an ADR compliance plate on my trailer, so I recon I'm OK, just
wanted some thoughts on it. Ta.

Do whatever is easiest, and if you ever have a problem with the legality of
the hitch in the future deal with it then.
