I've used them in the past to get cover for my lad, as it was cheaper than
upgrading the "free" policy from A&L to include him.

Those going on a motorcycling trip may find better value elsewhere, as
their standard policy T&Cs have the 125cc restriction. You can pay an extra
premium to get cover for larger bikes.

    Nationwide building society.

Yes, I have tested the claims procedure after getting hopitalised in
Thailand, and there were no issues. The guy on the 24 hour helpdesk in
the UK handled it all even though they had trouble getting the hospital
staff to understand exactly what they needed in terms of information. I
just presented them with the bill and a week later the cheque arrived.

I can get it cheaper for yullie and myself from M & S than the A & L

The A&L travel policy never seems to meet my needs. I suppose I ought to
switch to their Premier Direct account which pays 8.5% interest without any
    insurance trinkets.
The interest you could earn by keeping a £2.5k balance would buy my house
    insurance and travel insurance.

I'll Have to check exactly what my account is called then - I pay
£500/month in and take £500 / month out ... inside the rules, but a
    requirement for the ISA

But I'm sure the travel insurance is only European

sounds like you have the same account as me, "Premier"

It used to have a global travel insurance policy and pay 4.5% credit
    interest.

Then, they lowered the travel policy to European and cut the interest rate
    to 0.5%.

At the same time they launched the Premier Direct a/c. It pays a higher
rate of interest but has no insurance bundled in,

Currently, they are offering the 8.5% for 12 months as an incentive for new
accounts on the Premier Direct a/c (max balance of £2500, anything over and
    the interest drops to .5%)

Just a "pull you in" account then - regular input, capital ceiling - I
hate them ... I'll check it out tomorrow though
