    No kidding ;)
Oh sure; x-ray tube 30kgs, control panel about 10kgs, cables maybe
    another 15kgs.
Then we need somewhere to process the films. I could prolly put the dev
in the left Givi and the fix in the right, leaving the top to install a
    heater for film drying.

dwb? He'z just ziz guy, you know?
Oh yes, I know 6th is that highly geared its an overdrive. I wasn't
expecting it to be anything else, but changing from 4th to 5th and it
honestly felt like it was going to start slowing down at 100% throttle.

Maybe just my perception. More playing needed :)

    Sorted!

Or I could just dig out 3 multimeters, put the bike on a stand and see
    WTF its doing.

The way they re-map the lower gears means its got a lot less power
(compared to 5th) from 1% to 50% of throttle opening, each gear (1, 2,
3, 4) gets a bit more % of full power until all is available in 5 & 6.

For whatever reason it makes the throttle response jerkier in those
gears unless you're using > half throttle - riding round town wasn't
    very nice on the VStrom.

I know it doesn't make sense, it should be easier to pootle around at
slow speeds/low throttle if you've got less power, but the fact is it
    works.

The fact that the bike was designed/built and then the EU cunts stepped
in and got Suzuki to add this on makes me think its a hasty
afterthought and not implememted very well.

And since its a doddle to implement on any Gixxers, why not do it?

    Ace says...
They are reputed to improve response because you never give the throttle
full whack with a 1/4 turn throttle. Fit a 1/5 turn job and it opens
fully quicker most of the time.

5th actually. It fools the ECU into thinking the bike is in 5th all the
time, thus eliminating slow response in 1-4 and disabling the speed
restrictor in 6th. The Active TRE simply switches itself off when the bike
hits neutral, otherwise you get problerms with idle.

I might go and get one for £20 just to try it, but then on the other hand, I
don't think I can be bothered.

I have a switch on mine so I can turn it off when the roads are a bit icy,
it also gives me an instant comparison when riding. You're more than welcome
    to try it.

You've got one and you still want more torque?
How do you keep the front end down - depleted uranium breast implants?

I got it to help smooth out the throttle response, the gearing is an idea to
help move the thrust curve down a few RPM. I have to change the sprockets so
gaining an advantage might be an option.
