Triumph Sprint RS Valuation

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Boots Blakeley, Jan 9, 2006.

  1. I am off, probably tomorrow to look at a 2001 (Y) Sprint RS. It's
blue[1] with hard panniers an alarm and centre stand[2]. It has as far
as I can determine not been run for around 18 months, been sitting in a
garage with an optimate keeping the alarm from wrecking the battery.
Current mileage is ~1600 miles[3], it doesn't have an MOT and has
missed the third service[4]. It's had a low speed drop at walking pace
which has left a small scratch on the LH engine case.

So assuming it gets an MOT and service what's it worth? and anything
    special to look for?

[1] I know the one true colour would be better.
[2] These are apparently an optional extra.
[3] 1st owner never used it and second hasn't done much more.
[4] Time wise if not mileage

  3. Cheers Adie,

Apart from the minor scuffs that I expected it all looks OK. I didn't
get it started after standing for 2 years although it turns over OK.
The current owner is going to contact 3 cross about picking it up for a
service and MOT, so assuming no problems after that I'll probably buy
it. All I need to do then is see if I've enough money to fill in the
difference between the insurance payout and what I need.
